  • "At the urging of my cardiologist I needed to make some changes. I looked at Phil knows Food and was overwhelmed but gave it a go. Truthfully I couldn’t do it all. But I did a lot. My most important I think was cut out red meat which meant Tacos hamburgers and the bread and cheese that came with red meat. (It’s amazing when you think about it) also no potatoes. Rarely alcohol no soda just water. The one thing I had a problem with was sugar and coffee. I love candy. Bottom line I lost 30 lbs in 2 months -3 months and even better it’s stayed off. I now don’t really pay attention except I stay off red meat, limit bread and potatoes and I still eat candy. The 30 lbs has stayed off 10 months later my A1C is now down from a 7.7 to a 6.3.!!!! My cholesterol. Is down from 280 to 150 and all my bloodwork is basically normal. I’m still diabetic and still on my medications for now but I am better. I have hit a wall it seems at this weight but it’s because I’m lazy and not trying I need to go back and follow Phil’s plan again more effectively and GET OFF THE SUGAR!! My story I know is unique but bottom line you don’t have to be perfect for it to work."

I think that it took 4-6 weeks of struggle until my metabolism switched over and now I have learned to satisfy my cravings with a half of a One Bar or other snacks in 100 calorie increments. Also critical has been drinking the 64 ounces of water daily. It definitely slows down my appetite. Im definitely making progress without perfection! The best is all my clothes fit or are too big! Nothings too small! My advice to anyone reading this is you can do it- you just have to stay with it for at least 60 days- track your calories- drink your water and don’t get down if the scale doesn’t move as fast as you think it should! It took me more than a year to put on the 30- I’m lucky it came off in only 3 months. Good luck and do it! It feels so good on the other side!

  • "It's been my first week. I got rid of all caffeine, red meat, sugar, dairy and I've only used a little bit of Parmesan cheese for egg bites. I only use avocado oil or olive oil, and only a tablespoon at a time. I really like that avocado Crema that's my new favorite dipping and salad dressing. I started at 247.9 I did hop on the scale this morning and I was 237.5. I'm very excited about my progress. I feel much better and my joints don't hurt as much. I'm up to walking 3 miles a day and doing 15 to 20 minutes of vigorous calisthenics push-ups sit ups pull ups."
